Rapid Solidification Process

What is the Rapid Solidification Process?

The Rapid Solidification Process (RSP) combines chemical and mechanical processes for the  handling of slurry from horizontal directional drilling, direct-pipe installations and tunneling. RSP turns it into a stackable, dry, soil-like material.

The RSP is designed to combine all waste from shakers, centrifuges and hydrocyclones without separating them or requiring a vac truck to move them to an alternative treatment area. The excavator and RSP bucket remove the waste to an adjacent mix bin for instant treatment. The RSP uses a small footprint onsite and stages the solidified material for quick exit from site as a consistent, dry, stackable solid for landfill or mix-bury-cover. The RSP is a complete package so that no other equipment or inputs are required, providing the client with cost certainty throughout the project.

Mix Bucket and Zero Swing Excavators

The RSP uses a robust mix bucket attachment on a versatile, zero swing excavator. The bucket can remove the liquid, cuttings and paste from the waste receiving bin and combine all of these streams with the CETCO solidification material. The bucket uses a shear paddle mixer which facilitates thorough mixing of the waste stream and CETCO product. The same bucket is also used to load out the solidified material for disposal. The compact size of the 245G and 345G excavators combine excellent visibility and reach as well as the small swing radius that is required to work in tight areas around mud systems and trucks.

The ALLU PM300

The RSP system works well on large-scale sumps or high-volume solidification projects where a dedicated robust mixer such as our ALLU PM300 fits the bill perfectly. The long reach of the three-metre attachment designed for our 350G and 345G excavators gives this attachment versatility in large sumps where access may be an issue. The same robust mixing is achieved with the ALLU PM300 and the CETCO solidification products, turning large sumps into solidified, soil-like material quickly. The RSP has been effective with biosolids lagoon processing as well as high-volume horizontal directional drilling, where the majority of the solids have settled to the bottom of the sump. The extended reach of the ALLU PM300 allows these solids to be brought up so the chemical and mechanical processes work more effectively with the extra solids, reducing the overall chemistry required.

The HELLBLENDER RSP System

The HELLBLENDER RSP system is an aggressive pugmill collection system that allows all the waste streams from the shakers, cyclones and centrifuges to be deposited in a collection bin where it is continually transported through variable speed screws to a pugmill mix chamber. The CETCO solidification product is added at the pugmill mix chamber to again provide rapid solidification of the combined drilling/tunneling waste. It is deposited in a bin for storage before disposal. The combination of the receiving bin and pugmill requires no more space than the receiving bin and quality control from the solidification operator ensures consistent results regardless of the wetness of the material entering the collection chamber. The variable speed drives ensure constant flow of material to the pugmill mixer. The optional high-volume CETCO product storage system reduces the amount of material handling of product onsite. The HELLBLENDER RSP unit is designed for long-term projects and requires only a 100kw generator to run the system.

CETCO Crudesorb Products

The RSP process combines all the effective mixing above with the superior performance we get from CETCO Crudesorb products. The clay-based solidification products are a majority bentonite based material with a small percentage of Super Absorbent Polymer (SAP), which combine to make soil-like material that is stackable, compactable and, with our no-dust blends, safe around sites. Claytek and CETCO have worked to develop products that have the most effective solidification solution on the market. We combine the surface area of the Crudesorb clay with SAP to effectively solidify slurry quickly, reducing time and costs and quickly removing the material from site so we can provide our clients with a safe, sustainable process to increase environmental stewardship.
